CfP: WITTA 2018, The Second WITTA Congress

The Future of Interpreting and Translation Education

University of Westminster, London, UK

October 13 – 14, 2018

       We are happy to announce that the Second WITTA (World Interpreter and Translator Training Association) Congress will take place in London, UK, on October 13-14, 2018. The conference will be hosted by University of Westminster on behalf of WITTA and organized by the School of Humanities, University of Westminster and the School of Interpreting and Translation Studies (SITS), Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS).


       Open to all, the Congress is intended to create a common space for reflection on issues related to translation and interpreting education. The language of the Congress is English.


       Topics

       We invite papers related but not limited to the following translation and interpreting (T&I) education areas:

       ➢ Translation teacher education and development

       ➢ Curriculum and material development

       ➢ Methods, approaches and innovations in translation teaching

       ➢ Quality assessment of translation education

       ➢ Translation education and language policies

       ➢ Technologies in T&I Education

       ➢ Corpus and T&I Education

       ➢ Professor Kaibao Hu, Dean of the School of Foreign Languages, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China

       ➢ Professor Dorothy Kelly, Editor, Interpreter and Translator Trainer, Vice-Rector, Universidad de Granada, Spain

       ➢ Professor Donald Kiraly, Professor, University of Mainz, Germany

       ➢ Professor Christina Schäffner, Emeritus Professor, Aston University, UK

       ➢ Professor Weihe Zhong, Senior Advisor of WITTA, Distinguished Chair Professor, City University of Macau, China


       Proposals for presentations at the Congress are now being invited. Submissions are invited for 20-minute presentations. Those interested in making a presentation should complete and return the Reply Slip attached below, together with a 300-word abstract and a short bio-sketch, including the author’s name, affiliation and research areas.

       No registration fees. Participants are requested to submit the Reply Slip by July 7, 2018 and complete their registration on site on October 12, 2018.

       Submissions

       Abstracts should be submitted to witta@foxmail.com by July 7, 2018.

       The Abstract File name should read: surname_name_abstract.doc (example: Richardson_Henry_abstract.doc).

       Venue

       The Congress will take place in the University of Westminster, London, UK, from October 13 to 14, 2018.
